APDK opens the door to printing opportunities for products that have previously not been able to communicate with printers, by merging with the product's host system to form a printer driver. With this APDK, developers can expand the scope of their product with no up-front costs and minimal time investment.
Depending on the appliance and development background, developers will find the APDK relatively easy to implement. Most appliances will be able to take advantage of the technology due to the code's small size (75 - 180 KB), uni/bi-directional printing capabilities, and OS and I/O independence. Successfully tested products include set-top boxes, Linux work stations, hand-held computing devices and web terminals.
